Xeridia wins the award for the most important IT Project of the year in Castilla y León
22 September, 2008
Neo project, developed by Xeridia for Caja España, has received the award for the most important IT project, from Computer Engineers of Castilla y León Association.
The presentation will take place during the celebration of Computer Engineering of Castilla y León night, wich is going to take place on friday September the 26th at Miguel Delibes cultural centre in Valladolid.
NEO (Stands in Spanish for New Operative Environment) project objective was to develope a visual editor to generate Java aplications and to migrate the whole Caja España's finantial client source code.
Visual editor was developed as an Eclipse Plugin (one of most popular integrated development environments nowadays), creating new views and assistants, like the visual composition editor, or the connections assistant, among others. A documentation generation system, that allows to keep each visual composition information updated, was developed as well.
To migrate existing source code, powerful code generators and analizers were developed, that allowed a massive migration. At this stage, exceptions management and migrated code validation were critical, because thousands of windows previously created by a lot of different people during the years, needed to be processed.
Last stage of the project was not just the most critical but the most satisfactory, because the goal of setting up the new finantial client code and the new development tool without a big impact, was achieved.
At the moment, Caja España Offices are working with the finantial client migrated and software factories that work with them are using NEO, the New Operative Environment developed by Xeridia.
